A sweet farewell from retiring police K9 after years of devoted service
|“Godspeed my friend and thank you for all your service” 🥲
This gorgeous dog, named Bane, has been a K9 officer with the Fort Walton Beach Police Department in Florida for the past five years, giving back to his community. As a furry representative of the police, Bane has dedicated his time to fighting crime on the streets and outreach.
“[He’s] one of our goodest boys,” a police spokesperson told The Dodo.
Now, however, Bane is retiring with the nicest farewell as his illustrious career draws to a conclusion.
Bane’s handler, Officer Trujillo, celebrated his beloved K9 colleague’s retirement last week with a small ceremony and delectable food.
The next chapter in Bane’s life started after he was once again formally signed off duty over the radio.
Bane won’t be easily forgotten, even if he isn’t now a member of the force.
Bane will remain in his current home with his long-term handler going forward, now acting as a beloved companion and friend.
“Thank you for keeping our city and our officers safe during your dedicated years of service,” the police spokesperson said. “Enjoy your retirement Bane, you deserve it buddy!”
