A mouse and a woman meet and she invites him to a tiny picnic.

“He let me sit next to him for over an hour” 🧺💕

Brighid Rose discovered a different kind of guest had also been staying at her parents’ house the previous day while she was there and that he had made himself at home.

It was a little rodent that had been raiding their cabinets for sustenance. The parents of Brighid hoped their cat might get rid of their son. But when Brighid noticed the mouse during her visit, he made the more considerate decision.

“I scooped him up and brought him out to the field behind their house,” Brighid told The Dodo.

She didn’t stop there, though.

It would have been praiseworthy enough if the small rodent had been removed from the premises safely. However, Brighid chose to take it a step farther.

“I felt bad just leaving him there in the field, especially since he must have been used to eating all that human food in my parents’ cabinets,” Brighid said. “So I brought him a little goodbye picnic.”

Brighid spread out some food and placed a napkin down to serve as a picnic blanket. The rodent adored it.

“It was really sweet,” Brighid said. “He let me sit next to him for over an hour. He seemed very happy to me.”

After some while, the small mouse discovered a comfortable spot to hide close by. Brighid left him some more food to assist him get back on his feet outside at home before going back inside herself.

It was natural for Brighid to treat the mouse with respect and to give him a little picnic to say goodbye.

“I have always just really loved animals. I didn’t really think too hard about it. Like, I should do this for him! It’s not his fault he’s a little mouse in a big world!” she said. “It was so cute! Definitely made my day.”
